Driven by the insight that many dermatologists lacked necessary context for identifying potential skin cancer in their remotely screened patients, we looked at the patient's remote screening flow. With a goal of mimicking as Recognizing that only patients possessed the spot or lesion, we prioritized prompting users to provide additional context, including close-up pictures of their spots. This approach aimed to empower dermatologists to better understand and recommend appropriate in-person follow-ups, resulting in an improved screening process and enhanced patient outcomes.
Through collaborative discussions with dermatologists, we pinpointed areas to enhance evaluating patient photos. Recognizing the importance of user context, we strategically integrated prompts during the close-up section, similar to in-person consultations. Working closely with our team, we developed a concise list of terms for users to describe moles/lesions, ensuring dermatologists received vital information. This interdisciplinary effort empowered dermatologists to make accurate recommendations for necessary follow-ups to SkinIO users.
